After our meetings end (~7 PM) many of us head out to dinner at a local restaurant.

President’s Message

We ended our year with some great activities and the most wonderful Christmas Party at Bricks Restaurant with pre dinner cocktails at the Sharps. Huge thanks to De, Pat and the Huntoons for helping organize the actual dinner at Bricks. Good news, we have already reserved Bricks for next year’s Christmas dinner.

A few weeks ago we had an executive board meeting to plan activities for 2020. Many old favorites like the Virginia City Drive, Wine Tour and Monitor Pass will be back, with some new additions announced as information becomes available. Please come and join the January meeting and discuss these 2020 events and join us for another great dinner at NapaSonoma after.

Sadly Dawn passed away in a October and Giles is now being cared for at Arbors in Sparks. They were amongst our most faithful members and enjoyed many meetings, dinners and events. They thoroughly enjoyed being part of our club and sharing in our activities and events. They still drove their original BMW 1600 that Dawn bought new as a daily driver. I’m sure I echo the sentiments of many when I say they will be sorely missed.

8 August2019 @ Pearce Motors

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

In July we did a great drive to Nevada City Ca where we also shared a wonderful lunch. Huge thanks to John Strom for organizing this great event. If you like curvy roads, this is the drive for you. I was looking for a few short straights just to unwind. This is the sort of drive we should think about putting on as a yearly event. I sure look forward to doing it again.

Our next event will be on Saturday September 7 for the Monitor Pass Fun Rally/Poker Run organized by Fred Watson. For those who have never been over Monitor Pass, it’s a beautifully breathtaking drive. Lunch will be at Red’s Old 395 Grill in Carson City.

Our annual picnic scheduled for August 11.has been postponed. We would like to have it in September We still need a location and leader for this event. A suggestion being looked at is Galena Park. As a result the club has nothing scheduled for August so if anyone has a favorite drive and restaurant for lunch please let us know.

And don’t forget our annual Wine Run in October.

I hope to see everyone at this month’s meeting followed by yet another fabulous meal at our favorite, Napa Sonoma.

Enjoy all this glorious driving weather and see everyone soon!

Sierra Chapter BMW Car Club – Reno, NV
11 July 2019 @ Pearce Motors

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I hope everyone is enjoying July so far with this wonderful driving weather and that your 4th of July was fun filled and accident free.

Last month we had two great events. “Cars and Calories” at Bert Skidmore’s Intrepid Motor Company was a sight to behold seeing literally millions of dollars’ worth of amazing race cars and classics and listening to Bert telling stories of the racing greats he had been involved with. Thank you Bert for a fabulous morning!

Our second event was to the Berlin Ichthyosaur State Park. We all met in Fallon for much needed coffee then continued to Middlegate for lunch and socializing outside under beautiful old Cottonwood trees. The kids played tether ball and had a lovely time on the tire rope. After lunch we caravanned on to Berlin to see the ghost town and do an organized tour of the Ichthyosaur fossils which was fascinating. Getting there I found out my M5 is an all-terrain vehicle driving on dirt roads and crossing streams.

Our next event will be John Stroms’ tour of Nevada City on July 20. Please make sure you are signed up so lunch can be booked and paid for by this month’s meeting. The cost is $24.

Our annual picnic will be on August 11. Hope to see everyone at this month’s meeting. Meanwhile happy driving and enjoy this glorious weather.

Mart Jaama
President

13 June 2019 @ Pearce Motors

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

As we roll perfectly into a warm summer, perfect driving weather is upon us. The very true slogan “ultimate driving machine” is very true so please enjoy yours to the max. I hope everyone enjoyed the Virginia City tour which, unfortunately, I was unable to attend this year but certainly hope to next year. Anyone who hasn’t done it yet should certainly attempt to do so next year.

There are quite a few exciting and fun events coming up, the first being Cars and Calories, a tour of the Intrepid Motorcar Facility on June 22nd at 10 am. Next will be our drive to Berlin State Park on June 29th. This is a beautiful drive through very varied Nevada landscapes, visiting a small well preserved ghost town along the way as well as an Ichthyosaur exhibit. In July we will tour to Nevada City on some very beautiful California mountain roads. Please check our calendar for more details. I certainly hope to see you at these fabulous events.

Greetings everyone on this cold February day. Thankfully the sun is out after a lot of snow and winter weather.

With hazardous road conditions all around we need to be extra careful and vigilant with our driving. This is not the time to be touring around mountain curves so let’s save that for better weather. We do however have a very enjoyable social event planned this month on Saturday February 16 at 10 am at the Nevada Railroad Museum. This will be followed by lunch at Red’s Old 395 Grill. So come out and enjoy some of our heritage and socialize with our wonderful members.

If any members have any ideas of what we can do as a club, please don’t hesitate to tell the board so we can implement them and hopefully make them happen.

Meanwhile stay safe and take your BMW out for Valentine’s Day dinner at Famous Dave’s following our next meeting at Pearce BMW at 6pm.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone!

The logo on the top is from his original Identification Card back in the early years. It was only used for a short while until powers that be at BMW said that they had to make a change. The one on the bottom is what we now use. Just to keep the big bosses happy!
