MEETING MINUTES
The President was absent and the Vice President had to depart early resulting in John Strom conducting the majority of the meeting.

- MEMBERSHIP. No reported change in membership.
- UPCOMING EVENTS
- Oct 13-14, El Dorado & Amador County Wine Tour. Annual wine tour will go on October 13-14. De Sharp said 18 cars signed up. Details are being finalized including names of wineries to be visited and will be provided to tour goers later.
- Nov 3, Fun Rally. Mart said November 3rd fun run scheduled but he is looking at a backup plan if weather is bad.
- PAST EVENTS.Pat McGoff said 36 people attended the club picnic at Arrowcreek. John Strom showed a video collection of photos from the picnic.
- ERRATA. John Strom showed photos of new launches of BMWs revealed at Monterey. Road and Track published a new article favorably commenting on the new 3 series being a big improvement on the previous generation in feel and handling.
- BMW BRIEFS
- Pat McGoff briefed that new Z4 will offer “frozen†colors as an option. The Z4 has a new grill with diamond openings. More details and pictures are available at bimmerlife.com/20 and American Luxury at amlu.com.
- Intelligent Personal Assistant coming to future BMWs in 2019 models. The system is accessed by saying “Hey BMW” (Bimmerlife.com).
- Plant Spartanburg opened in 1994 with 500 workers and now employs 10,000 with another 1,000 workers planned by 2021.
- 2019 X5 pricing and features are published in the September 2018 Roundel. New notable features are a factory installed trailer hitch and heated and cooled cup-holders.
- BMW is expanding its production in China to produce 520,000 vehicles in 2019. Details in Roundel September issue.
- To support the 25 electric vehicles promised by BMW by 2025, they have entered into a contract with a Chinese company for over a billion dollars worth of lithium-ion batteries. BMW is continuing work on an electric vehicle powered by a hydrogen fuel cell for the mid 2020s.
- BMW has been testing the 8 series convertible in Death Valley to create an absolute worst case scenario for the vehicle components.
