Updated 3-series

I just read something interesting about the updated 3-series in EVO magazine.   Here is the pertinent information…

From John Strom…

According to EVO magazine the updated 3-series will arrive in the U.K. in July and will have several interesting updates.  First, new gas engines will be joining the line-up: a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder making 134hp taken from the MINI and Active Tourer and new 3-liter straight-six developing 321hp and 332lb ft torque.  The 318i (3-cylinder) with a 6-speed manual is said to accelerate to 62 mph in 8.9 seconds, while the six, newly badged as a 340i reaches 62 mph in 5.1 seconds.  Visual changes to the 3-series are limited to new bumpers and LED headlights.

The M3 “will also come in for a midlife nip and tuck, also with new bumpers and LED treatment, a tweaked interior and some mild tuning of its turbocharged straight-six to bring it into line with Mercedes’ new C63 models.”

BMW is expected to introduce a new 330e plug-in hybrid, due for 2016, at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.
