WHEN: Saturday & Sunday, September 19th

We have blocked 15 rooms at the Shenandoah Inn in name of Sierra BMW Club, 209-245-4491 or 800-542-4549, for the night of Saturday, September 19, 2015. 

Saturday we’ll drive to Amador/El Dorado wine country, have lunch and spend the rest of the day visiting wineries to be selected (suggestions welcome). We’ll check in at The Shenandoah Inn in Plymouth, CA. Bring a bottle wine for the Wine & Cheese happy hour by the pool, followed by dinner. Sunday we’ll meet for breakfast then maybe visit Amador Flower Farm and continue with a couple of more wineries or head home..

Meet at Sierra Summit Parking Lot behind Tilly’s (S end of parking lot in front of Century Theater; check-in, sign release, and ready to leave not later 8:30am). 8:00am 8:30am
We will proceed to the Rt. 88 via Jack Valley Road arrive at Rt. 88 9:25 9:25
Rt. 88 Rest Stop (the rest stop on the right just passed Carson Pass Summit – about 1 hr and 20 minutes from Reno; 20 minute stop). From here will proceed on Rt. 88 to turn off at Ridge Road to the lunch stop at Avio Vineyards and Winery 9:50 10:10
Avio Vineyards and Winery, 14520 Ridge Road, Sutter Creek: Tour and catered lunch– $14/ per person 11:30 1:00pm
Convergence Vineyard, 14650 Highway 124 – tasting of award winning wine 1:20 2:00

If you proceed towards Placerville to connect with Highway 50, you can check out Narrow Gate Winery, or in the Placerville area, Jodar and Boeger (good lunch stop — buy deli food and picnic on Boeger grounds) Wineries Open at 11:00 am  
If you want to return via 88 you can check out Iverson, Windwalker, Perry Creek or Robert Mitchell. Return to Highway 88 via Omo Ranch Rd. or take CA E16 (Mt. Aukum Rd,) turn right on Sly Park Rd. (at the T intersection) and follow it to Highway 88 on Mormon Immigrant Trail. (See Map of El Dorado Wine Country for directions)

Rt. 88 Rest Stop (the rest stop on the right just passed Carson Pass Summit – about 1.5 hours from Reno; 20 minute stop). From here will proceed on Rt. 88 to turn off at Mormon Emigrant Trail to our next stop at Kamère Vineyards 10:00 am 10:20 am
Kamere Vineyards – Wine tasting and lunch. 11:30 am 1:00 pm

We started at the (A) McDonalds on Lemmon Drive (395), then continued through 395 with a rest stop at (B) Starbucks at Susanville, stay on Cal 36 West from Susanville through Chester continuing until you turn… right on Lanes Valley Road to Manton. We visited  (C)  Ringtail Vineyards & Winery (D) Shasta Daisy Vineyard (E) Cedar Crest Vineyards (F)  Indian Peak Vineyards. We ended with a great dinner at C.R. Gibbs 2300 Hilltop Drive, Redding, CA 96002, 530-221.2335, What was for dinner? Click here for a menu. Accommodations were t the Hotel is Best Western Plus.
Three alternatives for getting home:
• The fastest way would be to take I-5 South to Sacramento, then I-80 East back to Reno.
• A fun drive back is to take Cal 44 East until it intersects with Cal 36 at a “T”. Tu rn left and you’re back on Cal 36 East through Susanville and back down US 395 South to Reno.
• Third alternative is to take Cal 44 to Cal 89 and drive South through Lassen National Park (fee required) and stay on 89 until you reach I-80 East back to Reno,

Mormon Station Park in Genoa on Jack’s Valley Road for a rest stop and regrouping – 10 Min stop 9:00 am 9:10 am
Alpine Lake Chickeree Picnic Area (on Left) rest stop – about 1.5 hrs. via Jack’s Valley Road, to Highway 88 to Woodfords; left turn on Highway 89, continue on Highway 4 over Ebbett’s Pass – 15 min. stop 10:30 am 10:45 am
Ironstone Winery lunch stop -1 hr 15 min drive from Alpine lake- Lunch available at Ironstone Deli. No off premises food. Lunch stop 1.15 hrs 11:45 am 1:00 pm
Murphys, Calif. –Wine tasting at tasting rooms of your choice. Parking in the Black Bart Playhouse lot – 1.5 hour 1:10 pm 2:40 pm
