RENO-FERNLEY RACE TRACK (RFR) EVENT

October 09, 2011

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9th… is ON for sure.
The price is $175 per person and you can choose one of two activities (not both).

THE FIRST ACTIVITY IS: There will be a CAR CONTROL CLINIC which is TOTALLY safety oriented and teaches drivers how to recognize the limits of handling and what to do to maintain control. This is a perfect event for the driver in your family who is NOT a “track junkie,” but you would like to keep safe during daily driving. This person is commonly the spouse of a “track junkie”, but not always. Both members of a couple can take part. A car can even be shared (it still costs $175/person) for this event, although it works better with one person per car. You do NOT need a helmet for this event. At the end of the day, the car control group will conduct some “lead-follow” (you follow behind an instructor in his car) laps around the road course. One session will remain below 50 mph and helmets will NOT be necessary. Time and conditions permitting, those wanting to do more “lead-follow” @ speeds beyond 50 mph WILL need a “motorsport” helmet. RFR will have a few (6+/-) helmets to rent for $10.

THE SECOND ACTIVITY IS: ROAD COURSE DRIVING on the RFR “B Course”. There will be instruction available and depending on skill level and experience @ RFR, it may be mandatory. Drivers will be split into 2 or 3 run groups depending on the number of cars entered. Some “lead-follow” laps will likely be necessary, as we anticipate the # of drivers to significantly exceed the number of instructors. Each run group session will be 20 minutes, which will allow for a minimum of six sessions on-track. The cost for this activity is the same, $175.
If you wish to join us @ RFR for this day, please make out a check for $175 to: “Pro Control Driving Academy” and either hand it to me @ the monthly meeting this Thursday, September 8th, or mail it to: Jeff Warner, 549 McDonald Drive, Incline Village, NV 89451. Please indicate your activity in the check memo with either “Car Control” or “Road Course.” We NEED funds now to secure the track date with a deposit.

Be not troubled, if the car you might want to use is NOT a BMW. The goal of this day is NOT to promote the marque, rather to promote better driving. Hope you talk it over and join in.
The RFR Event is not an official BMWCCA event.
