Here’s a roster of all who chipped in to make this year’s Street Survival another worthwhile event.  (Gee, I hope I didn’t leave out anyone!!!)  We had help from outside the club (denoted by an *), from our venue host, Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program… and from other individuals who care about the effort to give new drivers a better chance to survive.

Registration was manned… errr, wo-manned… by Diane Ona, Carmina Nicasio and Jackie Douglass.  We would have starved without Joyce Sharp and Sharon Rachow… okay and DeArmond for bagels and coffee first thing.

The course workers kept the flow going:  John Strom, Ed Smith, Art Ona, Duane Meyer*… plus some parental help.

Fred Watson was a moving target as the event photographer.

Please join us Sunday, September 7^th at Sky Tavern Lodge, 21130 Mt. Rose Hwy, Reno, 89511

• 100% of the proceeds got to Sky Tavern
• $25 entrance fee at the gate for all exhibitors (gate opens at 8:00am)
• $1000 cash prize awarded to the car club with the most cars exhibiting
• FREE admission to the general public (opens at 10:00am)

Greetings Sierra Chapter,

As you can see, there are a couple changes to the annual (so far) Gilson’s Kars for Kids Show and Shine charity event. Things are just too busy around the Gilson shop in Sparks, so we have moved the location… AND WE HAVE CHANGED THE DATE.

NEW LOCATION:  Ski Tavern Ski Lodge on Mt Rose Highway

NEW DATE: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7^th; Gate opens for display cars @ 8AM This is the week BEFORE the Amador trip and will have your car(s) clean for that one!

NEW ATTRACTIONS: The Chair Lift and Zip Line will be running for a nominal fee.

NOT NEW: Price to display is $25 and includes lunch; spectators are free

NOT NEW: $1,000 cash handed to the club with the most cars on display

Okay, here’s some inside info for us Bimmerhead’s: Last year the Chevy club won the $1k with only 26 cars. C’MON… let’s shake the bushes and show up with 40. No really, if each of the “regular attenders” to the monthly club meeting calls JUST ONE Bimmer Buddy, we’re there. No cheating, you have to call someone who isn’t normally there! And YES, you can display more than one car if you wish. I’ll offer up the idea that at least part of this booty be spent on the Christmas party and/or another club event.

This event began in 2008 with the cooperation of the local Audi, BMW and Porsche car clubs.  Today, the event has grown to include cars, trucks and even motorcycles of all makes and models, domestic and foreign.

Every year, Gilson Autobody Inc. chooses a recipient for the proceeds from this charity fundraising event.  This year’s recipient is the Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program.  Began in 1948, Sky Tavern has taught over 100,000 individuals to ski or board.  Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and is dedicated to providing any and all children the opportunity to learn snowsports regardless of physical or financial limitations.

The event will include raffles, live auctions, food, music, local radio stations and other entertainment including some very special guests!  Come by with the family for an afternoon of fun in the sun and see hundreds of show quality vehicles.  Register your own vehicle for this event and a chance to win some wonderful prizes!
