Come join us for a beautiful ride and Poker Run through Nevada and California. The gamble is whether the weather will cooperate. If Monitor Pass is closed we have an alternative beautiful route. If raining or snowing in the mountains, just lunch and poker in Red’s Old 395 Grill in Carson City.

Red’s is a cozy spot for hand-cut steaks, ribs & Buffalo wings alongside over 100 beers from around the world.

Monitor Pass and Poker Run

Begin at Raley’s on Wedge Parkway (first card draw). Head south on old 395 to junction of freeway in north Carson City and proceed south to junction of 395 in south Carson City. Turn onto Jack’s Valley Road to Genoa. Potty stop at Mormon Station (second card draw). Proceed south to junction of Hwy 88 turn right and proceed to Hwy 89 left to Markleeville. There is an airport rest area with no facilities, regroup for 15 minutes (third card draw). Proceed through Markleeville to the junction to Monitor Pass. Stop at the top of pass at the rest area for another short stop (fourth card draw). Go to the bottom of the pass to the junction of US 395. Stop there for a short stop (fifth card draw). Turn left on US 395 and proceed to Carson City and lunch at Red’s Old 395. This is the last stop and where we have lunch. See mapped route below:

After everyone has had a chance to order and are settled we will present the prizes for High Hand and Low Hand (to make it interesting).

WHEN: Saturday, August 8^th, 2015 @ 8:40am, Meet @ Starbucks/Raleys Parking Lot on (Mt. Rose Hwy/Wedge Pkwy)

Days Events:

9:00am – Starbucks/Raleys Parking Lot, 1^st poker card draw Head-up Mt Rose Hwy (NV-431) over the summit, right on NV/CA-28 past Kings Beach .  Turn right on CA-267 (N Shore Road) towards Truckee, CA for approx 10.3 miles.  Turn Left on Brockway Road through roundabouts for approx. 1.0 mile to Truckee River Regional Park for potty break and 2^nd poker card draw.

10:00am – Leave TRR Park turning right on Brockway road, turns to Bridge St.  Right on Donner Pass Road until roundabout on CA-89.  Travel approx. 23 miles to Sierraville and then left on CA-49, stop at highway turnout immediately after Sierraville for pictures and 3^rd poker card. Continue 4.7 miles past Sattley.  Continue, this is the fun part! – 12.6 miles of dangerous curves, to Bassets (gas station/small store and highway maintenance station). Will draw the 4^th poker card at Bassets parking lot.

11:00am – Leave Bassets turning onto Gold Lake Hwy (CR-S620), travel approx. 7.6 miles to Gold Lake for pictures then continue for 15.4 miles to CA-89, entering Graeagle.  Turn left on CA-89 for approx. 1.7 miles to Graeagle-Johnsville Road.  Travel approx. 1.6 miles to Poplar Valley Road, turn right and travel straight to Plumas Pines Golf Course/ Longboards Bar and Grill for lunch! …and final poker card draw and prize award!). Lunch will be The Bluff with glorious views and delicious food.

Lunch Options:

The menu choices for the $17.00 choices to include tax, tip & iced tea or coffee:

Grilled Chicken Sandwich on house-made ciabatta roll, served with Caesar salad or house-cut French fries

Longburger , 1/2 pound burger on house-made roll, topped with Swiss or blue cheese, choice of Caesar salad or house-cut French fries

Ceasar Salad with grilled shrimp or chicken w/shrimp or chicken

And the $20.00 choice to include tax, tip & iced tea or coffee:

BBQ Baby Back Ribs with honey chipotle BBQ sauce, coleslaw and house-cut French fries

NOTE: Longboards can not do individual checks.  We were able to make lunch choices to include tax, tip, drink for a flat fee so please pay in cash. They have a full bar with a wide selection of micro-brews available which you can purchase drinks individually.

1:30pm – Leave Longboards and return back to CA-89 heading north through Graeagle for approx. 1 mile to CA-70. Head east on CA-70 towards Portola, CA, approx. 9 miles.  Leave Portola heading east on CA-70 towards US-395, South on US-395 to Reno, 49 miles. Approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Reno, the majestic Sierra Buttes located in Northern California on the spine of the sierras are sure to to amaze you! The drive takes you through beautiful valleys and through craggy peaks of the Buttes. During our drive we make approx., 5 beautiful scenic stops for photos and to draw cards for our Poker Run. The last card drawn ends our drive at Longboards Bar & Grill located on the beautiful Plumas PInes Golf Course where we meet for a leisurely and very enjoyable lunch and the winner of the poker run will be given a prize (to be determined).

Days Events:
